Thanks for stopping by!

I will be posting once a month, on the first Wednesday. Posts are most likely to be longer than my posts in other blogs but still in the short story category. My posts will be a mixture of mostly humorous short stories and some stories about Indigenous Peoples I’ve learned about in my docent days in big museums (Alaska and Washington State), my life in a Hispanic family living 7 miles from the Fort Sill Indian Reservation between 1944-1962, and my contemporary romance stories. All I can say for sure is that you’ll be safe from stories about vampires, drug addicts, and nuclear bombs. I scare easily.

Oh, and all of my stories will be clean. I promise. My stories from years of writing have been used in classrooms from the elementary grades through community colleges and have entertained our soldiers in a military newspaper.

To help us to get to know each other, please feel free to leave a comment after the posts. Let me know what you like and what you don’t like.

You’ll never have to worry about missing an update. The posts will also be on my Substack site (janellemerazhooper.substack.com)

In 2021, The Los Angeles Times chose the play that I wrote, Geronimo, Life on the Reservation (starring Rudy Ramos), as one of their 19 culture picks in 2021; I also have written award-winning novels.

People

I’m a novelist, playwright (Geronimo, Life on the Reservation), and romance writer. I was born and raised in Oklahoma, near the Ft. Sill Indian Reservation. My Hispanic childhood and interest in Indigenous peoples color a lot of my writing.
